“You Were on Your Own”: Pregnancy, Birth and Early Parenthood
摘要
This chapter considers experiences of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood during the pandemic and the impact of the time period on these major life events. In the context of existing studies of pregnancy and motherhood, this chapter analyses the oral testimonies of women who were pregnant and gave birth during different stages of the pandemic, as well as the experiences of fathers and partners, with a primary focus on the emotions emerging from interviewees’ testimonies. The chapter considers experiences of pregnancy, birth, returning home after giving birth, post-birth care and the early months after birth.
