Modern construction organizations often have multicultural teams with diverse nationalities, cultural orientations, and values. However, these cultural differences in project management teams often receive minimal attention, despite causing productivity challenges. Therefore, examining strategies to address these challenges is vital for enhancing organizational productivity. The study aimed to identify the challenges faced by multicultural project management teams in Sri Lanka and the strategies to overcome them. Subsequently, study ranked the most effective strategies to address the majority of these challenges. The study adopted a quantitative approach. Initially, a comprehensive literature review was carried outto identify common challenges in multicultural teams and explore strategies to enhance productivity. Then, semi-structured interviews were conducted to determine the impact of each challenge on productivity in a multicultural environment and to assess the influence of each strategy in mitigating these challenges. Statistical methods such as Relative Importance Index (RII), Pareto analysis and Fuzzy set theory were adopted for the data analysis. The fuzzy-set theory will be used to analyze the collected data. Triangular fuzzy member-ship function will convert linguistic terms into the fuzzy values. Later fuzzy arithmetic functions were utilized to determine the ranking order of these strategies based on their influence to overcome the challenges. Therefore, a construction organization can consider implementing the previously mentioned strategies in the identified ranking order to enhance productivity among multicultural teams and address prevailing challenges. This will help to achieve this sustainability goal and its targets. Favorable team environments will lead to sustainable workforce management in the Sri Lankan construction industry. Even though the findings of this research are confined to the Sri Lankan context, developing nations that are enduring similar struggles in their organizations can use the same methodology to overcome the challenges in multicultural project management teams and enhance their productivity.
