Increasing demands for sustainable construction materials have positioned the utilization of renewable and biodegradable raw materials as alternatives. Natural fibres (NFs) have emerged as a viable alternative to conventional building materials, particularly in wall panel applications for green buildings due to their renewable, biodegradable nature and exceptional thermal, lightweight, and acoustic insulation properties. This paper critically reviews the potential of NF as an environmentally friendly, biodegradable, sustainable material for wall panel applications in green buildings. The paper discussed the processing techniques and materials treatments that enhance NFs mechanical, thermal, and moisture resistance properties. Key fabrication techniques in relation to NFs wall panel production were examined. A comparative analysis with conventional building materials was also discussed, highlighting the advantages and current challenges of NFs wall panel utilization in green buildings. Furthermore, the study identifies research opportunities and technological innovations and establishes regulatory standards to overcome existing limitations, positioning NFs as an essential contributor to eco-efficient and sustainable building practices. Anticipated also, to furnish researchers within the construction industry with valuable information that would encourage more extensive research on utilizing the various available NFs for green building innovations.

摘要
