Preparing Students for Industry 5.0: Integrating Sustainability in Built Environment Curricula
摘要
The built environment sector's contribution to global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions necessitates urgent educational reform to prepare students for Industry 5.0's human-centric, sustainable practices. This study investigates how to integrate sustainability into built environment curricula through innovative pedagogical strategies. A mixed-methods approach combining systematic literature review and comparative case study analysis of four institutions was employed. The analysis reveals six core competency domains essential for Industry 5.0 readiness: sustainability literacy, technical proficiency, systems thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical responsibility, and leadership. Problem-based learning, experiential learning, and industry partnerships emerged as effective pedagogical approaches. The study proposes a comprehensive framework for curriculum transformation that balances academic rigor with industry relevance, providing actionable guidance for educators and policymakers.
