The Inverted Pyramid: A Collaborative Teaching and Learning Model for Master’s Design Class in the BIM Era
摘要
Current architecture education often prioritizes individual design processes, creating a disconnect with the collaborative, interdisciplinary demands of the AEC industry. This conceptual study proposes the Inverted Pyramid model, a novel pedagogical framework designed to integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) with structured interdisciplinary collaboration among architecture, engineering, and construction students. Through a systematic theoretical analysis, the paper outlines the model’s pedagogical foundations, structure, and potential benefits using the Master's class as proposed case study. While empirical validation remains future work, the proposed framework addresses critical gaps in architectural education by simulating real-world AEC workflows. The study concludes with actionable recommendations for implementation and future research directions, including pilot testing and comparative studies.
