Imagining aliens and alien worlds is not the exclusive realm of science fiction and scientific curiosity stemming from work on exoplanets and astrobiology. In fact, it has a long history in Christian theological thinking. Recognizing that theological history enables a new dialogue of science and faith with imagination at its heart. The scientific search for alien life in the universe and the exploration of aliens in science fiction asks fruitful questions of the Christian tradition in areas such as creation, incarnation, redemption and the nature of what it means to be human. In return the Christian tradition can offer insights into what engagement may mean in ethics, the affirmation of curiosity about alien life and about the significance of contact.

摘要
