Cardioembolic Stroke
摘要
Cardioembolic stroke is a type of ischemic stroke that arises from embolic material originating from the heart. It constitutes a significant proportion of ischemic strokes and is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. This chapter provides an in-depth examination of the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, and treatment modalities of cardiogenic stroke. Emphasis is placed on understanding the underlying cardiac conditions predisposing individuals to this type of stroke, including atrial fibrillation, valvular heart diseases, and cardiomyopathies. Advances in diagnostic imaging and anticoagulation therapy are discussed, highlighting current guidelines and evidence-based practices. Finally, the chapter explores preventive strategies and the importance of managing underlying cardiac conditions to reduce the incidence of cardiogenic stroke.
