Emission and absorption of x-ray radiation play key roles in hydrodynamic properties of laser produced plasmas. In this chapter, we overview basic aspects of radiation hydrodynamics and atomic models in laser-produced plasmas. Application of the atomic models to plasma x-ray lasers, plasma diagnostics and EUV lithography are briefly described.

Emission and absorption of x-ray radiation play key roles in hydrodynamic properties of laser produced plasmas.
