Renewal of Vegetation Science: Applications
摘要
The study of forest patterns according to the LaBiSV methodology was reported in Chap. 4 , concerning boreal or temperate forest phytocoenosis with a list of notes on the involved main parameters. Here some summary parametric sheets for the LaBiSV survey of other types of vegetation formations are presented: (a) Mediterranean sclerophylls, (b) meadows-pastures, (c) tree-lined corridors, (d) urban parks and gardens, (e) arable fields. Research on forest damages and their regrowth in the Fiemme Valley (Trento, Italy) shows the application of the LaBiSV methodology. In add, the importance of forest soil is underlined and the functions of mycorrhizae, whose systems can be compared to the microbiota of the human body and, at least in part, to the neuronal system is briefly summarized. Other important applications of LaBiSV concern (a) the demonstration that the increase in species biodiversity does not indicate an increase in the level of organization of the phytocoenosis considered, (b) the bionomic limits of the Lombard plain or low hill forests around the metropolis of Milan. The modest values of BTC and CBSt and the high percentage of alien species are unfortunately very alarming.
