The paper discusses how TRIZ contradictions can be used to facilitate the drafting of patent applications, thereby reducing time and costs. Unfortunately, TRIZ is not the most widely used innovation method (at least in Italian SMEs), yet many patents are filed, most of which protects technical solutions resulting from the trial-and-error approach. In this context, patent professionals need to analyse the solutions provided by their customers in order to unveil hidden inventive steps and to highlight critical features that may enhance patentability. Despite the wide range of AI tools available for patent drafting, they generally do not challenge the description of the invention provided by the inventor nor suggest a method for defining it. Instead, they translate the input request into a patent application or a set of claims, and may offer suggestions based on an automatic prior art search. In both cases, pure human or AI assisted drafting, the identification of the contradiction that the solution overcomes is a strong enhancer to improve the quality and promptness of the technical solution formulation and its technological breadth. The paper describes how TINEXTA Innovation Hub S.p.A. consultants reformulate the customer's description to reveal the pre-existing contradiction and facilitate the patent drafting by a patent professional or an AI patent drafting tool.

摘要
