Children’s Rights in Mauritius
摘要
The rights of children in Mauritius have emerged as a crucial topic. Both the domestic legal system and international human rights documents, such as the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (African Children’s Charter) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), contain these rights. The welfare of children in Mauritius, as well as the advancement and defence of their rights, are directly under the purview of domestic organisations such the Children’s Court, the Child Development Unit, and the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children (OOC). In order to assess the level of protection afforded to children’s rights in Mauritius, the ensuing section focusses on them as well as specific laws.
