After a brief overview of the basic terms related to functions, as well as an overview of some common real functions of one real variable, in this chapter we introduce the concept of a limit. Limits deal with the question of what happens to the functional value when the independent variable x moves closer and closer to some value c. This term is one of the fundamental terms in differential calculus and plays a key role in the definition of continuity and differentiability of a function.
