Secure RFID Mutual Authentication Protocol Based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography for IoT Edge Environments
摘要
The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized how smart devices interact, offering a wide array of applications through seamless connectivity. The IoT has become a revolutionary technology, driving the interconnectedness of smart devices across diverse applications. Among the various technologies enabling IoT, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) plays a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity, automation, and data collection. However, RFID systems face significant security challenges, particularly regarding communication between tags and readers. As IoT environments are inherently resource-constrained, the need for lightweight and secure authentication protocols is paramount. In response, Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC)-based authentication protocols have gained prominence for their efficiency and robust security features. Despite existing advancements, security and performance challenges persist in these systems. This paper proposes a novel authentication scheme based on ECC to address these issues more effectively. The findings show that the proposed protocol delivers enhanced security and improved computational efficiency relative to existing solutions. Its performance makes it an ideal candidate for deployment in a wide range of IoT applications requiring enhanced security measures.
