AI-Driven Digital Forensics in the Next-Generation Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is revolutionizing healthcare systems by creating a network of IoT devices and infrastructures that enable not only continuous patient monitoring but also decision-making based on the data collected. However, this makes the security perimeter larger, which in turn, increase the risk of cyberattacks such as unauthorized access to data or data manipulation. This chapter highlights that IoMT security is a crucial aspect of the overall cybersecurity in healthcare systems and outlines the principal cybersecurity and AI-driven digital forensics challenges they have encountered. In addition to that, it also describes evolving trends including use cases and methodologies for AI-driven IoMT forensics, and future directions. Finally, the chapter gives an overview of global health standards for IoMT security compliance, and points to the fact that there is a need for skilled experts and sustainable technologies to protect future digital healthcare.
