We have noted in the previous chapter that the search for a di-friendly metaphysics leads one to take the hypothesis of deep temporality seriously. My aim in this chapter is to recapitulate some of the key stages of the ongoing debate in contemporary metaphysics of time on questions around the two components of that hypothesis, namely the notions of temporal compartmentalization and temporal dynamicity. This will set the stage for the critique of the currently dominant way in which deep temporality is construed amongst philosophers of time, and the development of an alternative approach in the second part of the book.

摘要

We have noted in the previous chapter that the search for a di-friendly metaphysics leads one to take the hypothesis of deep temporality seriously. My aim in this chapter is to recapitulate some of the key stages of the ongoing debate in contemporary metaphysics of time on questions around the two components of that hypothesis, namely the notions of temporal compartmentalization and temporal dynamicity. This will set the stage for the critique of the currently dominant way in which deep temporality is construed amongst philosophers of time, and the development of an alternative approach in the second part of the book.
