Humanity faces four interwoven critical challenges: the need to double food availability by 2050 sustainably; global climate changeGlobal climate change; decreasing quality and quantity of freshwater; and economic livelihood, all of which form an existential threat to society. Transformations in food and agriculture systems are key solutions. This chapter will explore the interconnected ways that agroecology can inform and lead international strategies and local actions to execute a second real Green Revolution, decrease greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions, and stimulate local and global economies.
