This chapter discusses the signals and systems in detail. Signal can be described as a mathematical function containing information about the system under investigation. Mathematical modelling has an significant role in almost all engineering applications. In order to analyse, to understand, and to control a physically realized system or a process, we usually notate some important variables as mathematical function, hence the process can be modelled by means of such functions. In Fig. 1.1, a simple block diagram representation of a \(PID\) control system with input and output signals is depicted.
