The ubiquity of slings in antiquity, and their variety and that of their projectileProjectile, is discussed. Slings were cheap to make but difficult to use; their role in ancient warfare (particularly in IronIron-Age BritainBritain, British) is considered. SlingSling bullet shape is discussed and the high spinSpin rates that are imparted to these bullets during launch are predicted and compared with data obtained from modern slingers.
