Anthology of Shooting the Suns
摘要
In this chapter, the Shooting the Sun oral histories are presented, collated, and deconstructed according to structural elements and subsequently arranged based on salient narrative themes. Narrative themes are plotlines composed of salient structural elements that are common across texts. The most pervasive structural element types by which the Formosan Shooting the Sun narrative themes can be composed of include: (1) the number of suns; (2) cause for the quest; (3) hero identity (male, female, deity, young and old) and quantity; (4) weapons used to kill the sun; (5) other details.
