Women’s Empowerment in Tech-Driven Agriculture
摘要
Women’s empowerment is vital for inclusive and sustainable development. This chapter addresses the diverse characteristics of empowerment—economic, social, digital, and agricultural—highlighting its significance in advancing the sustainable development goals. This study uses existing theory and empirical data to assess obstacles, including digital inequality, income disparity, climate risk, and gender-based violence. Education, financial inclusion, institutional reform, and gender-sensitive agricultural practices can empower women, as outlined in this chapter. Tools such as the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index and the Survey-based Women’s Empowerment Index were assessed for their effectiveness in measuring empowerment. As investments are made in women’s capacity for agency, autonomy, and leadership, the potential exists to create an equitable society with resilient food systems. In addition to being morally necessary, empowering women is an important strategy for addressing many of the world’s most pressing development issues.
