Water is a resource that has been exploited extensively to meet the growing human needs and because of the competing needs of the community. Water footprints have increased considerably, and the need for their assessment has grown multifold for efficient management of water resources (Aldaya MM, Chapagain AK, Hoekstra AY, Mekonnen MM. The water footprint assessment manual: setting the global standard. Routledge, 2012). The chapter integrates the domain of water management from the perspective of circular economy and the role of nature-based solutions in achieving water conservation. The concept of life cycle assessment is also explored to understand the performance of water management-related interventions considering circularity principles like reuse, recycling, recovery, and reduction. The circular economy can be used as a model for the management of water and reducing the water footprint.

摘要
