Learning from their success and trying to apply it to other small- and medium-sized enterprises is a long-term legacy of hidden champions. Exploring their development trajectories and learning from their business models is the main objective of the research project which is presented through this book. Seven major lessons have been drawn from the meta-analysis of HC (hidden champion) case studies from rising economies. Lesson 1 suggests that strong leadership is the motor of hidden champions’ success. Lesson 2 says that employees and a strong corporate culture is the reason hidden champions endure and flourish. Lesson 3 teaches that hidden champions create and deliver values. Lesson 4 further suggests that the value-creation process as well as the value itself need to be innovative. Lesson 5 contains the main message that the value is created through a partnership network that hidden champions construct and rely on. Lesson 6 claims that resilience is engraved at the DNA of hidden champions. Finally, Lesson 7 emphasises the importance of sustainable business practice, which leads to long-term business success. All these lessons are embedded in the business environment which is under strong influence of VUCA times in which hidden champions manage to survive and strive.
