Traditional construction is an important way of knowledge. This paper intends to give a contribution on the traditional Portuguese granite dwellings context. In general, this type of construction is built with granite or schist masonry walls, timber pavements and roof and ceramic tiles. The North part of Portugal is rich is this type heritage. Several examples of traditional granite dwellings are presented. A traditional granite dwelling is used as a study case. The adopted experimental procedure is also introduced. The obtained data is presented and a discussion is also done. Final, the main conclusions are delivered. The Portuguese rural areas tend to present good quality of air as well as the traditional granite dwellings.
