Innovative Teaching in Business Intelligence: Adapting to Advanced Tools and Market Demands
摘要
In today’s data-driven world, Business Intelligence (BI) plays a crucial role in decision-making across industries. The rapid expansion of big data and technological innovations has fueled a growing demand for professionals skilled in data visualization, AI-driven analytics, and cloud-based BI solutions. In response to these industry needs, many universities have included, or should consider including, BI into their undergraduate and master’s programs. This chapter explores BI tools, including Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, R, and Python, that could be integrated into educational curricula to foster innovative teaching methods. It also analyzes the characteristics and applications of these tools in various contexts. Key criteria for selecting appropriate BI tools for teaching are discussed to ensure that instructional innovation not only keeps pace with technological advancements but also aligns with pedagogical goals and labor market demands. The effectiveness of BI tools is evaluated using established criteria, focusing on their impact on student learning and their ability to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving job market. In short, Tableau and Power BI are beginner-friendly, while Looker Studio offers a free, basic reporting option, especially for those familiar with Google’s ecosystem. R is ideal for students with a statistical background, and Python provides advanced analytics, flexibility, ease of programming, and strong job market relevance.
