The integration of Big Data (BD) in the Urban–Rural Integration Development (URID) strategy represents a pivotal approach to rural revitalization and stands as a fundamental pillar in the construction of a digital China. This scholarly treatise delves profoundly into the intrinsic logic underpinning the path innovation of URID enabled by BD, meticulously evaluating the degree of integration between BD and URID through the establishment of a comprehensive index system. Utilizing panel data from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly governed by the Central Government in China, spanning the period from 2010 to 2020, the paper elucidates the intricate interplay between these two entities. The investigation yields compelling evidence that BD exerts a positive influence on URID, facilitating the unfettered circulation of production factors such as labor, land, and capital, fostering the amalgamation of urban and rural basic public facilities, and promoting the equalization of urban and rural basic public services. BD emerges as a critical determinant in the spatial resource allocation process within URID. Furthermore, the enhancement of rural financial services is identified as a catalyst that significantly contributes to the advancement of rural revitalization. Drawing upon these findings, the paper proffers strategic recommendations for the path innovation of BD empowering URID, thereby charting a course toward a more harmonized and prosperous rural landscape.
