This paper explores how traditional competition theories need to evolve in the context of digital ecosystems (DEs). By analyzing the structural dynamics and competition mechanisms in well-known digital platforms, including Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, and Microsoft’s integrated services, we identify the limitations of current competition policies and propose necessary adjustments for regulating DEs effectively. Our findings suggest that existing frameworks are insufficient for addressing the complexities of DEs, and we offer policy recommendations tailored to the digital economy’s unique challenges.

摘要

This paper explores how traditional competition theories need to evolve in the context of digital ecosystems (DEs). By analyzing the structural dynamics and competition mechanisms in well-known digital platforms, including Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, and Microsoft’s integrated services, we identify the limitations of current competition policies and propose necessary adjustments for regulating DEs effectively. Our findings suggest that existing frameworks are insufficient for addressing the complexities of DEs, and we offer policy recommendations tailored to the digital economy’s unique challenges.
