This chapter focuses on some of ways the Gàidhealtachd community, schools and businesses of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland encourages the use of Gàidhlig first language transmission in social settings. The learning and government use of Gàidhlig in Scotland is bound into policy and law. Outside of schools and government literature, however, it is challenging to encourage the day-to-day colloquial use of the Gàidhlig language between friends, generations, and in daily conversation and relationship building. So, is the Gàidhealtachd using its Gàidhlig?
