Factors Influencing School Dropout: An Analysis Focused on University Students in Veracruz

This study focuses on describing the school dropout detected in four higher education programs, specifically in undergraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Accounting and Administration at the University of Veracruz. Data collected from surveys conducted with 1018 university students was used as a data source. The analysis was conducted in two stages: a preliminary review and an analysis of the main factors influencing school dropout, such as satisfaction with the higher education program, health problems, lack of furniture and equipment, teacher treatment, conflict between peers and teachers, economic situation, family problems, and enrollment costs. The results show that school dropout is an exponentially growing problem in university education. There are various causes that lead to this phenomenon. Therefore, it is necessary to attend to and prevent it, addressing its factors and causes. An immediate way to address this situation is through educational guidance, which has gained relevance, and various programs have been designed for this purpose.
