Virtual environments play a significant role in modern IT infrastructures. Given the increasing licensing costs of VMware post-acquisition by Broadcom, businesses are exploring alternative virtualization platforms. This study evaluates two leading hypervisors, Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox Virtual Environment, in terms of CPU performance, storage efficiency, and network throughput. To this end, we implemented a three-node high-availability cluster on Windows and Linux, and executed CrystalDiskMark, Sysbench, Geekbench, KDiskMark, and iPerf3 benchmarks on them. Our results indicate that Hyper-V provides better performance for Windows virtual machines, while Proxmox offers higher performance for Linux virtual machines. However, the differences in performance between the two tools are minimal. Additionally, Proxmox offers a more user-friendly cluster setup, whereas Hyper-V requires higher technical expertise.

摘要
