The chapter examines the collective action and representation of platform workers, not only from the perspective of industrial relations and practices emerging in recent years but also from the perspective of legal recognition, particularly in the context of Directive (EU) 2024/2831. The latter, and how it will be implemented in all Member-States, is assessed in terms of accomplishments, such as the right to collective information and consultation on automated monitoring and decision-making systems, as well as drawbacks, particularly the absence of the right to collective bargaining with regard to algorithmic management.

摘要

The chapter examines the collective action and representation of platform workers, not only from the perspective of industrial relations and practices emerging in recent years but also from the perspective of legal recognition, particularly in the context of Directive (EU) 2024/2831. The latter, and how it will be implemented in all Member-States, is assessed in terms of accomplishments, such as the right to collective information and consultation on automated monitoring and decision-making systems, as well as drawbacks, particularly the absence of the right to collective bargaining with regard to algorithmic management.
