Curtains Closed: Conclusion, Future Research, and Recommendations
摘要
This chapter concludes the book with some useful summaries for each chapter that has gone before. However, rather than just summarise, this concluding chapter pulls out some of the key themes and takeaway points from this book. These takeaway points are areas that I as the author believe hold significance to Black women. However, other takeaway points may be discovered by you as the reader that you believe are equally as significant. There will also be brief discussions of future study and how the work of this book can be extended or used as a stepping stone to further research within the field. To end the chapter, recommendations will be made to improve aspects of the prison institution to better suit the needs of Black women. Whilst some may appear specific to the UK, I argue that some of the suggestions made are transferrable to Black women in other jurisdictions and could be extended to other racialisedracialised individuals. The aim is not to be exhaustive but to make conclusions, based on the voices of the women that fill this book, that can lead to tangible policy improvements.
