Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an emerging technology that’s rapidly gained popularity and attention. AI is transforming and making major progress across several industries including Education. In 2024 AI is not just a futuristic concept, it is revolutionizing and impacting the way we learn, teach, and manage educational institutions with both negative and positive implications. Therefore, discussions and debates have been held on whether AI should be prohibited or whether it should be implemented in the educational system along with providing students and teachers trainings on how to use it effectively and efficiently. For the advancement and integration of these technologies in educational institutions to be sustainable and significant, a full and deep comprehension of their impact on the ongoing pedagogical system on the current educational framework is needed. The study delves into the nuanced landscape and scrutinizes the benefits associated with the application of AI in education and how this latter reinforces and enhances personalized and self-directed learning. Based on a convenient sampling due to its accessibility, the study involves a mixed-methods approach including both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. One hundred twenty master students, who have used AI for several academic ventures using BlackBoard specifically, are the subjects under study. The data was compiled via web-based surveys and in-person interviews from the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences Dhar El Mehraz, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University of Fes, Morocco. The findings of the study underscore the multifaceted impact of AI in personalized learning. The outcomes show that the benefits of AI include its ability to allow students to learn at their own pace and in a fashion that best fits their learning preferences. Which can improve or enhance the results of students. Some of the hurdles that need to be addressed are implied bias, cost, low self-esteem, privacy and security concerns.
