In this chapter, we examine how humans and AIs collaborate, focusing on the different modes of interaction and their implications for creativity. We identify three modes of human-AI collaboration. In the first mode (AI as a Helper), AI assists humans by providing tools, suggestions, and enhancements that facilitate the creative process. Humans remain the primary drivers (human-centered). In the second mode (AI as a Partner), humans and AIs collaborate as partners, each contributing to creativity. Lastly, in AI as a Principal Creator, AI leads the creative process with minimal human intervention, raising questions about creativity and authorship. Additionally, we discuss the roles of humans and AIs and provide case examples that highlight real-world applications in art, music, writing, and game design.
