Path #2: Constructive Action in Education and Academia
摘要
Psychologists, especially those in academia, have a professional duty to address and challenge the conservative biases within their field. They should lead by example in the classroom by discussing sensitive topics like race, gender, and politics, which are often ignored. Educators should also teach students how psychology’s methods and history are shaped by societal prejudices, such as WEIRD-centrism. It is essential for psychologists to move beyond the pretence of being apolitical and instead be transparent about their own viewpoints. By actively promoting a more diverse and self-critical approach, they can improve the quality of their science and ensure it serves justice and equality, rather than maintaining the status quo.
