From Conservative Past to Neoliberal Present
摘要
Psychology’s history has created a field with an inherently conservative bias. Its methodologies favour unreflective quantification, simple correlations, and group comparisons, and frequently overlook the complexity of human life in its social or political context. The field’s tools were developed to reinforce traditional social hierarchies and to blame individuals for their problems, promoting a belief in personal responsibility over societal influence. This mindset, which teaches people to accept their circumstances, ultimately serves to protect the status quo and perpetuate social inequality.
