Society instills implicit trust in the safety and effectiveness of medications available on the market. While this assurance is commonly based on quality control measures enacted by regulatory bodies, unsuspecting infiltrations of the drug supply chain compromise consumer safety and trample on any trust that has been established. Substandard and falsified medical products (SFMP), which can also be referred to as counterfeit therapies, are ubiquitous global health concerns that deserve more attention devoted to their existence and strategies to uncover and disrupt their origins. Coordinated efforts among pharmaceutical companies, community members, academics, and other interested stakeholders are warranted to elevate transparency around SFMP and collaboratively devise process improvement plans. This chapter summarizes the SFMP landscape and proposes recommendations for actionable steps that can be taken to address SFMP in a systematic manner.

摘要
