A Fay Barber-Dansby: The Spark of Inspiration
摘要
The African Proverb guides Fay,Madam C.J. Walker, Mary Jackson, and Dr. Gladys West have been those raindrops inspiring Fay throughout her journey in engineering technology. Gloria Webb-Williams highlighted these amazing women: Madam C.J. Walker developed and marketed a line of hair care and cosmetic products and made a fortune. Mary Jackson worked at Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia starting her career as a computer at the segregated West Area Computing division in 1951. Mrs. Jackson, despite segregation, took advanced engineering classes and in 1958 became NASA’s first Black female engineer. Dr. Gladys West, a mathematician, worked on the processing and analysis of satellite data that led to the development of GPS. Their work fueled Fay to persevere. She knew their challenges were far greater than hers ( https://www.womensnetworkingalliance.com/post/black-women-who-have-changed-the-world ).
