Vaccines in Pregnancy

The subject of vaccines in pregnancy can be a cause for concern in both the pregnant patient and the obstetrical provider. Just as with medications, or any other intervention in pregnancy, risks and benefits should be weighed. In recent years, even the CDC has changed vaccine recommendations in pregnancy. A categorized table summarizing these recommendations is present at the beginning of this chapter (Table 5.1). For screening for illness or history of vaccination of measles or varicella, please see Chap. 3 .
