The role of the teacher is crucial in shaping a socially responsible, ethical and competent dental professional. Committed teachers in a learner-friendly clinical environment that functions based on a well-crafted curriculum form the foundation of effective clinical learning. This chapter discusses the fundamental steps in clinical skill training and reviews the recent trends in educational research related to this area. It also highlights the limitations of the current specialist model of clinical training and suggests ways to improve it from a student’s point of view.
