Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is by far the most common cause of rotational vertigo. We briefly discuss the pathophysiology, clinic, diagnosis, and treatment of this entity, drawing our attention mainly to the possible complications of the repositioning maneuvers, namely the reentry of the particles (and how to distinguish it from the more common recurrence), the canal switch, and canal jam.
