The concept of multidisciplinary care has gained wide traction in modern medicine. The advantages of multidisciplinary care are particularly evident in spine oncology, where cases are almost always complex and optimal care requires the combined expertise of multiple specialties. Although the advantages of a team-based multidisciplinary approach are self-evident, creating a functioning multidisciplinary team can be challenging. Key elements of such a team include clear and effective communication, frequent and regular opportunities for interaction, mutually beneficial research collaborations (in academic institutions), common goals, and a commitment to excellence in patient care. Effective multidisciplinary teams not only elevate the level of patient care and provide the best outcomes, but also increase professional satisfaction among team members.
