Argentinian Experience
摘要
Permanent synthetic filler injection disease is an acquired condition that develops as a result of injecting a foreign substance into an unsuspecting individual—the earliest reports of injected patients in Argentina date back to the 1960s. Industrial silicone arrived in Buenos Aires and began being administered to people. In the early 1980s, prostitutes and trans women displayed the first bodies enhanced with silicone in Buenos Aires. Industrial silicone helps trans women align more closely with conventional feminine identities and creates both body transformations and a specific niche in prostitution. This procedure is performed by individuals without medical training and in unsafe environments. In Argentina, no official statistics exist regarding the prevalence and incidence of this condition. Our research findings indicate that complications can arise immediately or later. The asymptomatic period can last from 1 month to 25 years.
