Analysis of the Mental Health of Individuals Who Undergo Aesthetic Treatments and Are Not Satisfied with Them Once Completed
摘要
This chapter explores the interconnectedness between mental health and the pursuit of aesthetic interventions, highlighting how self-esteem and body image are formed from childhood and influenced by cultural and social factors. Variations in beauty perception, driven by contemporary trends and social media, create pressures that can lead to body modifications. Many individuals seeking these procedures suffer from psychiatric disorders, such as Body Dysmorphic Disorder and depression, which increase the risk of dissatisfaction and psychological issues. Women and transgender individuals are particularly vulnerable groups, often undergoing dangerous treatments due to a lack of support and the desire to meet unattainable standards. The importance of psychiatric evaluations before undergoing aesthetic surgeries is emphasized, aiming to address both aesthetic concerns and mental health issues, preventing negative consequences for overall well-being.
