Global Bioethics: Current Challenges
摘要
Global bioethics is a relatively new term used to conceptualize the process of applying moral value to health issues, which is usually characterized by a worldwide effect or requires action coordinated at a global level. “Bioethics” is the ethics of biological and medical technology and deals with moral questions arising from advances in these fields. Examples of topics in bioethics are reproductive technologies, medical termination or enhancement of life, donation or sale of organs and other “body parts,” cloning, research and experiments using humans and nonhuman animals, genetic engineering, and stem-cell research. Bioethics is an area of global ethics that is becoming increasingly crucial as scientific and technological development issues affect global biological and health injustices. Global bioethics is necessary because globalization’s social, economic, and environmental effects require critical responses. This chapter will analyze global bioethical issues related to synthetic material injections to modify body appearance and try to clarify these controversial issues. The principles of global bioethics are autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice.
