Injuries in the Lower Leg Due to Filler Injections
摘要
The first calf implant was inserted by Carlsen in 1973. Since then, various alternatives have been proposed to achieve calf augmentation, such as modeling substances. This can be associated with short-, intermediate-, and long-term reactions. Filler application is a high-demand procedure, and sometimes this is performed by unlicensed practitioners and with illegal materials. We performed a retrospective and descriptive analysis of ten patients (20 legs) injected with unapproved fillers since 2017, 90% female and 10% transexual. This was approved by the ethics committee of Hospital Angeles Pedregal Health System. The lesions observed were edema, nodules, erythema, hyperpigmentation, sclerosis, and ulcers. In cases where unapproved fillers are used, it is difficult to predict the characteristics and the time at which alterations, related to the applied substance, may occur, hampering the evolution and treatment.
