Lumbosacral Complication Due to Silicone Injections
摘要
Permanent synthetic fillers are a group of injectable substances used for esthetic purposes, primarily to enhance volume in various body areas, with the gluteal region being the most commonly injected site. Often referred to as “biopolymers,” these materials typically consist of nonmedical-grade silicone and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), among other components [1]. Their illegal use has resulted in a public health concern, particularly in Latin America, where regulations banning their application are still inadequate. The most impacted areas include the buttocks, breasts, lower limbs, face, and genital regions [2, 3].
