The aims of the chapter are as follows: (a) to reinforce the lack of safety of the medical devices containing copolyamide (CPG) or polyacrilamide (PAAG), fillers known as Aquafilling, Los Deline, and Aqualift, by reporting severe complications encountered when used for buttock augmentation; (b) their therapeutic approach. The cases were all emergencies presenting life-threatening signs like systemic toxicity and sepsis, local and metastatic infections, destructions (necrosis) of the infiltrated soft tissues requiring multiple surgeries under general anesthesia, and long, recurrent hospitalizations with complex treatment protocols. The acute complications were both recent and delayed after the insertion of the copolyamid. The patients are profoundly affected physically, mentally, and emotionally having to deal with the deformities and long-term serious health problems, especially when the initial purpose was a purely esthetic, “simple and quick” procedure on a healthy, young person. Our experience encountering complications after copolyamid/polyacrylamid is consistent with previous similar reported data [2,4,8,9,10,13,14,15,16].

摘要
