Rationale for Adhesive Techniques
摘要
This chapter will provide an overview of the relative biological, ethical and clinical benefits of the adhesive approach. It will discuss the changing requirements of restorative dentistry that have migrated away from the wholly conventional preparation approach to a blended model where a significant proportion of treatment can be achieved ‘adhesively’. A change in ideology is proposed, where the focus has been on restoration survival, tooth survival would be more relevant to a patient looking to maintain their teeth during their lifetime. The need for sustainable dentistry and its delivery is highlighted through the recognition that adhesive techniques are repeatable, repairable and easily refurbished without undue tooth damage.
