This chapter examines the significance of achieving consensus in the technological landscape and its broader societal implications. It is a genuine call to all, an invitation to participate in the democratic process of developing and deploying responsible software and hardware artifacts that at least embody socially accepted moral values and ethical principles. These values and principles must be willingly recognized (cf. innately) through educational means rather than by force. In reality, however, technology is operated by human agency and is not independent of the human condition; thus, every vote cast by machines is not an unbiased mechanical step devoid of human inclination, as it is an extension of human subjectivity. No technology should compel us to voluntarily place our trust in any single party as a basic measure to prevent the legitimization of yet another authoritarian force. As long as the belief in legitimacy remains unquestioned, centralization will continue to prevail, eroding individual autonomy. Therefore, protecting privacy is a fundamental responsibility that extends beyond intrusive surveillance. Privacy is the foundation of a safe personal space to incubate diversity and growth, void of criticism, judgment, and conformity. Arguably, only a few individuals shape and control public opinion, creating a new social void that exhibits an authoritarian global presence penetrating beyond national borders and national sovereignty, thereby unmasking plutocracy. This overreach could become a catalyst for dismantling democratic institutions, diminishing respect for democratic ideals. Respect is arguably the sole guardrail that safeguards the entire social fabric. Furthermore, the unregulated trajectory of artificial intelligence not only threatens the collapse of rationality by amputating capacity to reason, but it also raises fresh concerns, beyond the old myth that robots will take over humanity. Instead, there is a risk that humanity may voluntarily become robot-like, deprived of its rightful dignity and identity. To grasp the gravity of the situation, we need to recognize that these dark models are trained devoid of innate moral values or the embodiment of a democratic constitution or commandments. Thus, they are not only dark but also trained in a moral void, a new chapter of exploitation that threatens to indiscriminately collapse upon both the exploiters and the exploited alike.
