Comparison of the Classical Hypothesis and Terms of the Asymptotic Expansions
摘要
The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory (also known as engineering beam theory or classical beam theory) several centuries history. The age of the Kirchhoff-Love theory is not so large, but it is also greater than a hundred years old. In the common literature and textbooks, the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory praised as providing engineers with a fairly easy-to-understand means of calculating the load-bearing properties of beams. It is noted that the simplicity of beam theory makes it an important tool in the sciences, especially in structural and mechanical engineering. The Kirchhoff-Love plate theory is praised as an extension of the Euler-Bernoulli ideas to plates. Indeed, at first glance, the similarities between the hypotheses underlying these theories are obvious. Even the imperfection—the neglecting the normal deformation(s)—is the same for both the theories.
